How can we create new narratives on migration? How can we promote alternative, more inclusive accounts on these issues against the backdrop of increasingly polarised and exclusionary discourses? With the aim of translating research results into useful tips and guidelines for civil society organisations and communication professionals working in the field of migration, BRIDGES is launching a Toolkit on ‘New ways of telling migration’, produced by Por Causa.
This Toolkit aims to be useful for those stakeholders working to change dominant narratives on migration, but who find it difficult to put it into practice or to transfer it to their work, their content or their daily lives. To this end, it summarises the types of audiences to which migration narratives are addressed to, and the main rules and considerations to take into account to effectively build new, alternative narratives on migration.
This Toolkit has been produced as part of BRIDGES Work Package 4’s co-production efforts. As such, it builds on the research on the role of civil society in promoting alternative narratives on migration amidst a context very often dominated by exclusionary discourses on these issues. It also picks up the discussions held during the workshop with civil society organisations, which took place in Mainz in September 2022, thus gathering the experiences of the initiatives that participated in the event and were analysed under this Work Package.
