BRIDGES Work Plan

BRIGDES is structured in a series of 11 Work Packages that organise its research, management, and communication and dissemination activities into multiple and inter-connected tasks under a detailed schedule in order to ensure that the project meets its academic, policy and societal objectives.

Work Package 1 provides the Scientific Coordination of the project with an oversight on the activities of the Consortium and ensures an efficient management at the administrative and financial level.

Work Package 2 aims to set up the theoretical and methodological basis to ensure a truly interdisciplinary work throughout the project and reach common conclusions on the basis of the empirical research carried out under Work
Packages 3 to 8.

Work Package 3 investigates how migration narratives are produced, circulated, and reacted in the media and social media at the local and national levels.

Work Package 3 investigates how migration narratives are produced, circulated, and reacted in the media and social media at the local and national levels.

Work Package 4 examines the communicative and discursive strategies employed by civil society organisations, artistic communities, and citizens –
including migrants themselves – to counter exclusionary narratives on migration and attract potential audiences towards more inclusive accounts.

Months 8-20: October 2021 – October 2022

Work Package 5 assesses how narratives have an impact on individual psychological processes. The final goal is to understand the conditions that make some narratives more successful or compelling than others in shaping individual attitudes and beliefs towards migration.

Work Package 6 assesses the influence of different types of narratives on the attitudes and decisions of (potential) migrants in African countries of origin and
transit. Its specific objective is to provide an in-depth understanding of the relevance and impact of EU-funded information campaigns targeting potential
migrants in Gambia and Sudan.

Work Package 8 analyses, together with WP7, how different narratives on migration shape, and are deployed in, the political debate and policymaking.

Work Package 9 aims to co-create alternative narratives on migration together with different kinds of artistic and media actors. These co-created narratives will feed and be fed by the project research results and discussions.

Work Package 10 comprises all dissemination and communication activities in the framework of the project.
